It was such a pleasure to be asked to work on a project with the Sweden based developers ’Systemic reaction’.
The game had already been announced by an internally produced trailer, so the concept for this video was explained as needing to get across the game mechanic that the world is an ever changing landscape that’s dependent on an overarching threat level.
“Get your first teaser of Second Extinction's community-based War Effort, the global meta-game within the dinosaur-shredding three-player co-op first-person shooter that launches into Steam Early Access in September.”
The map scenes came about by trying to stylise the in-game world-map UI. It acted as a cinematic cutaway that could then transition to the next scene and allude to the player the act of deploying over and over trying to control the level of threat on the ground.
The following video came shortly after. This was to act as a launch trailer for early access and concentrated on the main characters and their unique abilities.
The map scenes and gun models were rendered from redshift in cinema 4d, all other capturing was done through Avalanches proprietary ‘Apex’ engine.
